On January 22nd, 2025, officers were dispatched to a local bank after staff reported a woman attempting to cash a fraudulent check, leading to an onseen investigation and arrest. >> Hi. >> Hi. So when I did the interview and everything, they started giving me customers to talk to the people that was online. That was it. That was um I contact I did my deposit, did it to like a a bank account that I have. It never went through. So I called I'm like, "Okay, where's my paycheck?" They told me, "Okay, we going to have to send it out." And that's what they did. I don't do fraud or none of that. I'm I'm [ __ ] hurt right now because they basically just >> What's the name of the company? >> It's called um it's it's I got proof on on my phone. I don't do none of this. >> No, I I get it. But you know, if you work for a company Yes, but this is online company. I don't know if I'm getting fraud out of this or what. I'm telling him I don't even know. >> If something doesn't look right on their end, >> I understand that. But >> they're completely federal. They said they don't know me, but I'm the I don't know y'all. I'm doing this off internet. The internet can be fraud. I'm like I'm doing this off the internet. >> Well, then you would definitely want them to investigate it to clear you. I just told him >> cuz we also asked you for like your company that you're working for and >> I told him everything. >> No, no. We're asking you for the company you're working for and you couldn't even tell me the name of the company that you're working for. You see where I'm getting at with this now? >> Imm. >> So, he's checking into it. >> Okay, that's fine because maybe it's somebody that's doing this to other people. We need >> That's what I'm saying. And I'm I'm like I'm 21, y'all. I work with kids autism. That's my mainly job. This is this was just a extra job that I wanted, you know, to get more income. But I didn't know that I was going to get fried to the point that I'm stuck in this. >> That's why we're doing our part. He's doing his part. We're going to come out and check it out. Make sure everything comes out to be the truth that it is what it is. >> We're probably not having to take a report on it or whatever they want done or maybe there's a glitch of something messed up. >> I don't right there. >> So, give us a minute. >> We'll figure this out, >> man. Just have a seat out here while he makes his call. Give him some privacy. Um, like I said, he's he's got to look into it. He's got to check into it. So, just chill out. I come to this bank every day to check deposits from what I get from my apartment to my light bill. >> Okay. >> Like, no. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Well, just like I said, just sit tight. He's going to check it out. Um, it's one of those things where, you know, he's got to make sure everything's all good. Everything's >> It was just the questions he was asking like, "You sure?" I'm telling him everything. >> Do you know the name of the guy who issues you the check? >> 23. Wait, what? >> I got I got it on my email, but right now my phone is dead and I kept telling him that as well. My phone literally died when I was just checking it. It died. I was trying to show him every proof. Literally, >> I'm sure somebody's got a phone charger. We'll get to the bottom of it. We'll find out because if they're bo issuing false or bogus checks, then we need to they need to be investigated. If they're giving you that. So, whoever's doing this or behind this, they definitely need to be looked into. >> So, you know, they have a a protocol that they have and they have to go by that protocol. And if something comes in like that, >> basically was trying to um write my picture like of myself. >> I'm going to send you a deposit this and that. And I was young at the time, >> okay? So I didn't know like >> So did they send you a bogus check or something? >> They sent I guess they did and they closed my account. I treated the out of him. Excuse my language. I treated the out of him cuz I didn't I'm thinking you you know doing some real [ __ ] trying to >> Yeah. Yeah. That's crazy. >> That's what made me step back. But >> yeah. >> Well, you know, you got to understand like with the banks they have it's you know something >> I don't play with banks. >> Yeah. Well, >> you can go to jail doing stuff like >> Yeah, >> I don't play with banks and I've been with them for a long time. This never happened. >> Okay. Well, like I said, it they'll definitely get to the bottom of it. I can assure you that's what that's what we're trying to do right now. This is why I'm mad right now. I'm not even mad, man. But I'm very upset. Like, I went through this. I didn't know that was fraud. Um, of course, you know, we we're going to have to contact whoever issued it, find out what, you know, what they're doing. But, yeah, this has to be investigated. Okay. The woman was arrested and charged with deceptive practices related to bank fraud, including making a false statement and possessing a fraudulently obtained check.
