There was physical contact. My ear is bleeding apparently. I don't even Oh, yeah. You want to get checked out? Looks like it might be cut in there. I'm not sure. You know how that happened? She punched me in the head. Mama, I'm going to jail. Yes. Mama, please go get me out. I'm sorry. On April 8th, 2024, police responded to a chaotic domestic violence call involving a lesbian couple fighting over a computer, throwing punches, and breaking a glass door, and the poor child watched the entire ugly scene unfold. Both partners blamed each other for injuries and damage. Officers arrived to calm the situation and gather the details. Police Department Police Department. 104. We're still the door. Hello. Hi there. Um I'm Chelsea. Okay. What's going on? Um my wife has gone crazy. She has well doesn't have it on her anymore, but my gun. Um, she's also on the phone with someone who I have a protection order against, me and my son. Um, just I need her to leave. I'm I'm waiting with somebody now to come pick me up. I'm just getting some clothes. Okay. Okay. You want to talk to her? Have to come in? Yeah. You It's It's a mess. I'm sorry. Oh, that's fine. All right. So, y'all just had an argument. Excuse me. And I want to separate from that. What happened there? That one. I threw a candle. Watch you. I didn't mean to. Here. You want to go talk to him? Let me let me call you back. Okay. Did that happen tonight? Yeah. All right. The mess you see happened tonight. She said she threw a candle. I don't know what she threw. I was in the kitchen with my son trying to make him a snack and I heard it and Okay. And you both live here? Yes, we do. Okay. All right. Would you just let me talk to this officer? Okay. All right. Mama, what's going on? Um. Mama, just I'm talking to him now. Just chill out. Um, we've been arguing and stuff for a couple months. There's been some infidelity issues and we've just been going at each other and it's just gotten worse and worse. And um, accidentally threw that candle and broke the window. I meant the glass door. And I did not mean to do that. It was a complete accident. I'm just frustrated with the entire situation. Okay. You want to just walk me through what what happened? Um, we um I I had gotten the computer from her. These two turned their house into a wrestling ring over a computer. She grabbed it to see what she was hiding. She chased her and they threw elbows and punches at each other and their kid watched. What a proud parenting moment, right? And apparent there was something on it that she didn't want me to see because we got in an altercation over it and we just kind of scr fought from there over the computer and it went from one room to the next and she eventually got the computer and we just kind of fought after that for a little while. Okay. You got a license on you at all? No. No. Somewhere in the house. I can give you my Yeah, we'll just keep you mama. He he he knows. I told him it's um Christa. C H R I S T A6. Any good fun for you? Yes. Okay. All right. So something she says something about her hitting you first. Well, not hitting me, but we when we got started the Okay. So, can you just describe me the uh the part where you're wrestling over the We were just wrestling. Um I think I probably threw some elbows and some landed some punches cuz we were both just kind of trying to grab the computer one time away from each other. So, that's where, you know, I I probably did throw some elbows and a few things, but um she was just grabbing me, holding me, trying to get the computer up from under me. So, it was mutual thing. Um. Okay. So, I just I hate that he was here and saw everything. I hate that it's gotten to this point with us. Was he in Was he in there when y'all were were arguing? And Okay. It's okay. Take a breather for me. Okay. Take a take your time. Sit down if you want. Okay. I just, like I said, I hate I hate that he saved it and I hate that it's just it's gotten to this point between me and her. Do you do you all usually have arguments? Um, it's been going not we we didn't for a long time and then it started um I guess started getting pretty bad about 2 or 3 months ago. Like I said, there's been some infidelity issues on her part and um I found out about that and it's just gone from fair. Okay. Um, my family, my mom, my mom that's on the phone and the rest of my family live in Elbertton. Um, and her mom lives like 5 minutes down that way. So, I'm kind of limited on, you know, what I can do and where I can get. But yeah, you you mentioned something about my friends. Yeah, she friends pick you up. Okay, guys. If you're fighting over cheating suspicions, your relationship is already dead. Break up like adults. Don't make your kid watch you act like trashy reality TV for me. Okay. Okay. 295 central name date of birth for you. Christa Cob I'm sorry. Coobo 125 of 1986. Christa is going to be with CH. So, so you threw the candle. Yeah. And you threw it at the um I'm just gonna throw it in that direction. The door. The glass door. Yes. It's like on the shower or something. No, it's our back door. Oh, okay. Yeah, I really screwed up. But that one. Okay. Like I said, once I was just throwing it in that direction. Mhm. Okay. It's on the lease. What? Trace, did you need something? Do you have the idea on your m um [Music] Oh, thank you. That's the wrong address cuz I Okay, I haven't got it up yet. Okay. 37 central. Follow when you're ready, Chelsea. I know. I'm sorry. We forgot all about dinner. Did you want those Cheetos? You want these Cheetos right now? No. You don't need to be coming over here, Trace. There's glass. Yeah, there's broken glass over here, bud. Stay over there. So, what what would you like? Well, I wanted cheese and chips. Whatever. Go ahead. I'll go grab you some. All right. Well, I wish I could I wish I can go grab. What's your phone number? Don't worry about your shoes, Trace. You don't need to be walking around. There's glass everywhere. Yeah. Screenshot that thing weird. I've never seen a cop before. You have to. Oh, no. Well, I actually never Okay. So, but I actually did at school. I saw cops at school. Okay, that's good. They're making sure we're doing okay. Not nobody's hurt and stuff. Okay. I don't know where the other ones are at Trace, but there's these. Okay. Are those the ones you're talking about? No. The We have Ruffles. Oh, cheddar sour cream. These are the only ones. It's the same flavor, but it's just not ruffles. The saddest part is that their child watched everything and tried to act normal. That's how kids survive chaos. They pretend it's okay. The parents didn't even care enough to shield him. I see a ruffles. I think maybe or not. I'm really sorry. That's fine. It's fine. Yep. There are the ones that you wanted. Yeah, they're waffles. Okay. So, can you talk me through what happened tonight? Um, I got off from work and I was really tired and so I sat down on the couch and I fell asleep and they had they were going to go to the store to get dinner or something and they apparently had to keep coming back to wake me up to add money to the cash app card. Mhm. And I don't know. I just I don't I don't know h how I was getting annoyed because I kept getting woken up and I guess she was getting annoyed. I don't It just turned into a big old argument. Okay. Was it just the yelling and telling things or was there only like physical contact? There was physical contact. My ear is bleeding apparently. I don't even Oh yeah. You want to get checked out? Looks like it might be cut in there. I'm not sure. You know how that happened? She punched me in the head. Okay. Where at? On the ear. Oh, so that Okay. Got you. Uh, what happened over here? Your arm was bruised. There's no telling yours also on my back right here from the other day and I've got some on my ribs. Okay. [Music] Yeah. Can you stay in your room, please? Okay. Is the movie still going? Yeah. Okay. Go eat. Yeah. I also was going to show him that I have a tape. That's cool. Here. You can show me later though. K. Go enjoy your movie. I didn't know there was two voices. Yeah. Go watch your movie, bud. All right. So, you sure you don't want to get checked up by animals? I'm sure. saying she got punched in the head. Her ear looks like it's cut on the inside. She got bruises on her arm and her back. I'm going to use my flashlight real quick. Okay. Okay. [Music] That is she wearing rings or anything like that? She doesn't. Okay. Cuz it looks like there's a cut down in there. Do you see any rings or anything on her hands? Um, do you mind just I know you just told him. Do you mind just going over everything with me again? Um, so I got off work and cops calmed the kid, gave him chips, and asked about his movie. Can you imagine? Police acted as unpaid babysitters while the parents cried about betrayal. We picked him up, went and got her from work, and we made it back here. I was on the couch and I was I fell asleep. And so she had taken him to go to the store to get dinner or other things. And they had to keep coming back to wake me up to add money to the card cuz she had my cash app card. And it just it got to a point where I was annoyed and she was annoyed and it was just started a whole big old argument and I can't even remember the details of it. Okay. So when did it get violent? um when I was outside uh on the laptop and the phone that's out there now and she took it and so when I tried to follow her in um to get it back, she had locked herself in the bathroom. Mhm. And started going through it and you know this didn't just happen all of a sudden. Um Mhm. We've been distant for a while. So yeah, I am talking to other people. Okay. Um that's when she got violent. Um so and Trey saw Okay. Was it before or after that that the uh the door got broken? Oh, the door happened after after the struggle for the computer. Okay. I'm sorry. Was the the struggle for the computer? Was that where you got the injuries? I don't know if it was necessarily a struggle for the computer or her just getting her answered out. Just the wrestling part essentially. You also said that she punched you and in the head. That's how this happened. Was that youur of the of your ear? Yeah, she's got that freeze on her arm. Looks like some marks over here. So, yeah. Come on, kitty. Go on, Kiki. The flashlight. Okay. You sure you don't want to get your looked at? Doesn't cost the police to check you out. Where's the bruis? Is it that one right there? Uh, it's one of them. Yeah. She's got a few that she showed me. One on her back. Looks like some marks on her other arm. I take a picture of this door real quick, too. Yeah. Is this the kind of situation where she I don't know. I just I don't So So go ahead. Um is that Joel's son? That's my son. Your son? Okay. Did he hear or see this happen? He saw he saw They both had injuries. One had a cut ear. She had bruises. She threw a candle and broke a door. And now both are crying as victims. Grow up. This wasn't an accident. It was months of cheating, insults, and mutual violence. And they still live together. Just strange. The hitting someone. How do we get that belt off of Oh, yeah. She also um has a habit of trying to manipulate people by saying she's going to kill herself. So, there's a belt hanging in there. I go look. No, go ahead. Um I honestly I don't know what all he has seen or heard. Okay. Okay. But it's any of it's too much. Okay. But he saw this stuff tonight. Yes. Okay. Is he acting differently than he normally is or No, I don't think he fully understands. Mommy, how are we going to get that thing off? She might have just watched it or I don't know how we're going to get that. I can figure it out. I'll see if I can take it out for you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we can figure out that if I get his name. Um, his legal name, not your nickname. It's Lawrence. L A U R E N C E. He is the third. Okay. Um, his birthday is 18. And you and um Christie, was it Christ? Okay. Um, do you all live here together? We do. Okay. Are you all a couple? We're legally married. Legally. Okay. Yeah. Oh, sorry. You said y'all are separated. Okay. Okay. Um, how long have y'all been here? Uh, coming up on two years. We're a couple of months away from two years. Gotcha. And they actually just sold the apartment. Really? Yeah. I Yeah, you got it off. That's good. Um, is this kind of violence coming or is it more of a new thing starting off? And we might have to just sell the apartment like she said or Hey dude, can you do me a favor and go back to your room, please? But I was going to tell him something. What? Well, I did know that some places have electrocater guns. Talking about the taser. Yeah. Yeah, we do have those. Yeah. Why don't you go go watch your movie in there real quick for a minute? Okay. We're almost done here. Okay. I told you I'd come get you when it was time to come out. You You Pinky promised, remember? So, go on back to your room. But are we going to actually sell it or just we're going to fix it? Because I know we can actually please go to your room. Forgot my notebook. So if it means anything, I don't want her arrested or whatever. I just want her to leave. So, but it's not new for her. She's had domestic violence things in the past. Okay. She didn't want her arrested, but the cops told that the state would handle it. They advised her to get a protective order because they knew they'd be back if she didn't. Well, here's here's the thing. Uh it's kind of out of our hands at this point with this, but her hitting us on the head, throwing stuff at, you know, the walls and it's it's not okay. I do. And I I think that this is a good time to think about trying to get out of here away from her. Okay. Mhm. Um the door, how much is that going to cost to replace? I have no idea. Okay. It's we just rent. Okay. Well, we'll say 500 bucks. Doesn't have to be the same or anything, but that's a big piece of glass. Yeah. So, we'll say that. Okay. Okay. Um, what's up? You were wondering. Um, I had Mama. You still there? Yeah, I'm here. Okay. You okay? No, but I will be. Are you hurt or? No, I'm not hurt at all. mad at myself for breaking the glass door. Do you have any any rings on you? No. Negative. Do you usually wear rings? Mm- No. Well, I'm pretty sure you probably explain to the other officer what happened. Do you just mind explain it to me? Um, we have been arguing for a couple months now. Um, there's been some infidelity issues and stuff like that and it's just kind of gotten worse. And tonight I went for the computer because I just I had suspicions and um I grabbed it and it it went from there. She she went for it and um we fought over it and it like I said it just went downhill from there. We pretty much just tussled. Whose computer is it? It's um it's my dad got it for us for Christmas. Um and I have told her that she could have it. So I'm not going to lie to you on that one. That part it's hers. So if you go to grab the computer, what happens? She she ran after me and jumped on me and hit and I hit the ground. Then what happened there? We started fighting. Um, and I told the other officer like I I did I'm sure I threw some elbows and stuff because she was we were both kind of trying to grab it at the same time. Um, she eventually grabbed it from me and of course I went after her and um it kind of calmed down and then we would kind of go back at each other. Ma'am, don't wait until you owe your landlord $500 and your kid tells friends mom got arrested. It's gross. And their kid was stuck in the middle learning that this is normal. But after that, it just everything kind of stopped like a couple minutes before y'all got here. So, at what point was the glass open? That was um probably about 15 minutes ago. That was after we we would separate and I would I would ask her something or we would say something through the door and then we would come back at it, you know, each other with words and stuff and something was said and I shut the candle. What did she say? Um something about calling my how I was acting like my mother. I needed to call her and then I told her I would call my mom and she said she burn better not bring her ass over here or something like that. And that's when I threw the candle. Have you guys been together? Almost 4 years. Anything like this ever happened before? No. I mean we've had fights really like really bad fights but it's never gotten this bad. No. Do you have any scratches or any injuries on you? No. No. Is the computer intact? Yes. Both fights like we we we've gotten like I said it's been going this past week has been really really bad. What? Like then both bites have been over over that computer or over me finding something on the computer or on her phone. That's where where it starts. I hate that he's the kid. Sorry. The kid went the kid was in there and saw some other too. He was what? He went in there and saw some other too. Really? Whose kid is It's her. Is it just Y in the house? Were any punches or I threw a few? I thought there maybe one or two. And I know I threw some elbows when we were tussling cuz she was trying to like grab under me and stuff, but cuz she was able to pick me up off, you know, cuz I I I had the computer at one point and she picked me up and threw me back down and I let go of it and I know I threw I threw an elbow in. They admitted to really bad fights before. They said it hadn't been this bad until now. If you're yelling, slamming doors, or insulting each other daily, it will get worse. If you see red flags, run. Don't wait for the police to see them, too. [Music] You still there? Yes, ma'am. Yes, we can. It don't matter, mama. I'm I'm coming up. I'm hopefully coming that way soon. Don't wait on Ter where she's at. My phone's at 1%. I'm available. I got a charge in the house. All right, Christa, do me a favor. Go and set up for me. Okay. Mama, I'm going to jail out. Yes. Mama, please go get me out. I'm sorry, too. I'm sorry too, boy. [Music] He's got markers on her. I don't want to see here. Leave forward for me real quick. No, you're okay. It's not It's not your fault for this. Mama, please come get me out. Yes. I love you. Hang on. I'm trying to fix this. Uh, it's okay. Handcuff here. Okay. Just check your parts. Okay. I've got some stuff in my medications in there. I'm also on methodone. So, I don't know if that y'all have a program with that or anything, but you have any weapons or no no weapons at all. She went to jail crying and begging, but it was too late for apologies. She wanted to smoke like she has done some splendid job. Pathetic. This is what you get for turning love into a crime scene. Is there any way I can smoke a cigarette? Are you doing? Yes. Um, it should be in my pocket. My cigarettes should be um that came from this. Okay. My cigarettes are in my pocket. Cigarettes are in here. Maybe these. No, there's actual reports somewhere. Are they thinking? They may be in the room. Okay. Okay. So, so she's going to go to jail tonight, okay? For McDonald's battery and property damage. So, we're going to get you a case card. Can I say bye before you guys take this? I'll say best of you, as y'all don't know. Okay. So, she'll have a call and she she may call you after. Okay. If you want, I can tell that you want her to call you, but like like you said, right now it's out of our hands. you know, state requires us to act in these kind of matters of family violence. Okay. So, you know, like you said, it doesn't seem like this is a new thing and it's getting worse. I would highly look at getting a protection order, getting a TPO. Okay. I don't want this to continue. Okay? I don't want you to keep getting hurt. This is the first time with me. It's happened in your past before, but it's been a while ago. Funny. It's happened to you now. Unfortunately, I don't want it to happen again. Okay. Okay. So, we'll give you the case number. You can use that to go to the courthouse and try to get that temporary protective order. Okay. We'll do it with the master court cuz normally, you know, she can come right back here, you know, and you know, she comes back, you know, with an issue, it could just happen again. The protection order says she can't come here, she can't talk to you, you know, she can't have like that harassing communication kind of a thing. Okay? I'd highly recommend you get one. with your sake and your son's sake. Okay. All right. Just breathe. Okay. Do you need us to call anyone for you? I've got Oh, I got a friend on the phone outside and another one on the way. Okay, good. Um, give me a minute. I'll go get you a case card. Okay. Is there anything else you need from us? No. Okay, I'll be right back. All right. See if she can give me a cigarette. She'll give you a cigarette. Yeah. Do you have uh Can she get a She can she get a cigarette? Do you have one? Yeah. Yeah. I've got her cigarette. Both cried, said sorry, and didn't want to hurt each other. It's a toxic cycle. They hurt each other physically. Apologize emotionally and then repeat. Wow. If you're constantly apologizing for violence, you're not a couple. You're codependent fighters. Do you have this one? We're going to go and set over to my car. Okay. Just go down. Watch your step. Okay. [Music] My car is actually going to be on the opposite side of the grass. Okay. [Music] And we're going to go ahead and step over the on the left side here. The other side. Yeah. This side over here. Right over here. Yep. Okay. Right here. Try to go in butt first for me. Okay. Think I'm going to be able to smoke a cigarette at all. Uh, he's going to he's going to break. He's breaking one now. I know we're not supposed to speak, but you should just tell her I'm really sorry for all this. Yeah, we'll we'll we'll talk to her. I don't know how that came out, but that actually goes to her glasses, too. Okay. And these are her cigarettes. All right. Is that it's premium indigo canvas? Look like oregano for a second. Do you have her glasses? Her? Yeah. She had one. Okay. Apparently, one of them broke. Keep parked over there. Yeah, that's for cigarettes. That's part for glass. Apparently, I'm going to get her the card and uh the victim advocate stuff. There's my stuff. You want me to get a cigarette? Yeah. All right. I'm going let you uh smell that real quick. Okay. You can step outside the car, though. Yeah. Wow. Look at this. Even in this situation, the officers genuinely care about people. If they can think about us like that, why can't we use our own brains and think for ourselves? Are we really that helpless? I don't know if it's it's supposed to be legal. I got it from down there at the beside Walmart on Lexington Roads. I'm sorry. stick. Um, my friend coming to get me. It says less than 2%. So, is it I don't know if you want to What do you want to do with it? No, don't worry about it. You saying like she obviously she can't have this at the jail. Oh, no. No. What do you want to do? Just we'll just Well, can we can we leave this here? That's fine. Okay. Cuz I I don't think you're able to have that as property over there. Yeah. Let me see. I do it. It's okay if I just let it up. Yeah, that's fine. Let me just get a bag to put your stuff in real quick and I got to fill out some paperwork and I'll be we'll be on the way. Okay. Hey, do you know about THC? What's that? Do you know about THC? Like she said she got at the vape shop and it says that it might have marijuana test kit but I don't know. No, it's going to pop positive. But uh I was asking place asking if you need a code section cuz I know there's like less than I don't say it touch. I don't have the code section. I guess we could just leave this here or actually 1 oz marijuana. Autos contain more than 5% of THC is still illegal. I think that's less than 5%. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, this is one of She can't take the wizard to the jail. Yeah. I'll throw it up there with her. Let me let me sign my car and get all this stuff together real quick. Yeah. Yeah. Let me grab a glove. I want that stuff on my hands. If you're watching this, don't wait for the state to save you. Protect yourself. Protect your kids. Toxic love isn't love, it's poison. Don't make excuses about needing to stay for the kids. That kid deserves safety, and you do, too. Break the cycle. Choose peace over drama. That's real love. Were you close by? Huh? I said, "Were you close by?" I didn't realize you po you were over here. Uh, no, I was coming. Yeah. Okay. All right. All righty. You good over there? All right. Hey, there is one thing I do need do want to ask you about and I got to read you something before I ask you. Okay. Uh, you have the right to remain silent. If you say canon will be used against you in a court of law. If you have the right to talk to a lawyer, if you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. Even if you don't want a lawyer now and agree to talk with us, you can at any time change your mind and ask for a lawyer or stop talking with us. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? Yes, sir. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me right now? Okay. Uh, I just wanted to ask about the injury that she has to the side of her head. You didn't mention that to me. I was just curious if you if you're familiar with that. You all familiar? Do you want to tell me what happened real quick? I think they got plugged in the head because we were fighting over the computer when y'all when you said y'all were wrestling over it. Yes. Okay. What about the bruises that are on her uh on her on her arm and on her back? That's from that's from the first altercation we got into a couple of days ago. The same exact thing. Okay. Is this before or after you threw the uh the candle at the at the wall or the uh door? Before. Okay. Okay. All right. I appreciate your cooperation on that. Okay. Hi. [Music] So, this was in her pocket. We're going to leave this. Yeah, it's from the vape shop. Yeah, it's not illegal, but they won't let her have it to jail. So that's going to be the case card. It's going to be 2024-04080229. It's again over here right here. So this is basically going to be your rights to the victim. There's some resources you can reach out to known project saf. All right. Let me give this to you. I'd read through it if I was you. All right. Because you do have rights in the situation. Okay. And like I said, I don't want this to happen again. Okay. I want you and him to stay safe. Thank you. Do you have any questions for me? Okay. So, I'm pretty sure I mentioned earlier, but I'll say it again just in case. She's being arrested for family violence, battery, and property. Okay. Okay. You sure you don't want to get checked out? I'm sure. Okay. All right. Is there anything you needed from us tonight? No, thank you. Sure thing. Was that your friend here? Yeah. Okay, good. I'm gone. Thank you. If you need us, give us a call. Okay. [Music] [Music] All right, Chris, go and step up for me. What What exactly is it? Okay. Uh, is it okay if I throw these away? Absolutely. I don't think that you can have that in there. Something else. I'm not sure. Sorry. It's okay. I think it might just be your medication. It is. Yeah. Okay. And then that. Let's see what that is. Ventures. Yeah, those are mine. Okay. Yeah. [Music] I appreciate you being super cooperative. I really do. [Music] Okay, good news. They don't have anybody right there, so they might be able to just get you in. Um, it's been taking them a while really. [Music] [Music] short snack or something. Well, they added some new stuff like uh I don't know what's the last time you I mean you I have Yeah, it's been a long time. 2018. Okay. Yeah. So that scanner thing right now is uh brand new. Oh. So it it can scan your body and see if it's like cavities or anything. Yeah. Um Yeah. Yeah. That's that's good for y'all. That's good for y'all to have. Yeah. But with that process comes extra time and they can only allow one person at a time. So you saw that GSP guy pull up. He's going to have to make it be a user. So pros and cons. I'm sure it's like a lot it'll be make things a lot safer for everybody. Yeah. Safety versus uh speed. Yes. So or efficiency versus speed. [Music] It really is. I think Joe, but I think we have a rougher job than most I think last I didn't went to Elbert County is where I'm from. So I got a misdemeanor possession marijuana charge there and they're short there too. So yeah, that was in 2018. That's before everything happened. So Mhm.
