On December 18th, 2021, a woman in purple tried her best to turn Target into a clearance-free wonderland. Just skip the payment part. With friends by her side and selfch checkckout as her accomplice, it all seemed to be working until reality and store security hit harder than a red tag sale. Watch the video to find out what went down when the receipt didn't match the rack. >> Hey, how are you? Is it just the one lady stealing or some friends stealing too? >> Well, they got eyes on the one lady. >> There's one lady who selected it all. She's at the uh who's at self check out now. All she did for her was suit. So, we're like all the clothes that she selected. We anticipate she's not going to scan those. >> But yeah, she's with three other >> but she's the only one. She's wearing purple. >> So, right now she's the only one y'all want if she they all walk out. Okay. >> You said she's in what now? Purple. >> Purple. >> Okay. >> Hello, ma'am. >> Hello. >> Hold up. Hold just one second. >> What did I do? >> Uh, the security already uh recorded you stealing from the store. >> Stealing? What did I steal? >> Well, we document that in a moment. >> What do you mean? I rung up all my stuff. >> We will document that in a moment. Can you come inside with us? >> Really? Are y'all serious? >> Mhm. Mhm. >> I rung up all my stuff. >> Okay. Well, then the video >> don't touch me, but I'm going >> Let me give them my keys. >> But I rung up all my stuff. Step over to the right for me over here. >> Yes, ma'am. >> In this little hallway down here. >> I wasn't the only one ringing up, so why am I the only one coming back? >> Uh, the security has identified only you as the one who was taking things. [Music] >> I don't know. >> Take a seat on that bench back there. >> One of them. >> Where did that ring? We'll get done in a second. >> Got your ID on you? >> I do not. >> Okay. You got a Georgia ID? >> I do. >> Okay. What's your last name? >> You grow up over here. You ain't got no ID. Honey, >> what's up with that? >> When did I ring up? Because my brother was helping me and I don't know. I If I got to pay for it, I would pay for it. I couldn't take anything. >> Spell it for me again. >> MCC. >> All right. First name. S Y O N I. >> What all did I not ring up? Cuz I promise I was ringing stuff up. >> I think the clothes. You >> said the clothes. >> I wasn't watching the video, but yes. >> You remember ringing up clothes? >> I thought I got up the clothes. I had so much stuff in my cart and then I forgot some stuff and I rerung it again. >> That's why you take the stuff out of your cart and you ring it up, put it in the bag. I go to all my stuff. >> I'm not a thief. >> So, this is the first transaction, which is >> all soup. >> Yeah. If you're hovering over your basket and you're just doing this, >> there ain't no way in the heck you can track everything that you can. >> Come on. You >> No, it's not no you. I really thought I rung up all my stuff. I'm not pulling your leg or sitting here talking stuff. >> You been shopping. >> What do you mean? >> How old are you? >> I'm 37. How many times? >> Four to seven. I'm sorry. >> How many times you went to the store and shot? >> She moved like someone who'd practiced this. First the soup, then the slight of hand. Clothes vanished into bags like magic. Except the wand was just indifference. The cart kept growing. The scanner stayed lazy. Meanwhile, security already clocked the show. If guilt could be measured in receipts, she brought coupons worth none. >> I shop a lot. And they don't never go in the bag and just a basket and just sit there and ring all the stuff up. They take it all out and individually hit it and put it in the bag. >> Okay. What did I ring up? Like cuz I thought I was scanning. And it's not like I don't got no money. I can pay for the stuff. But I really thought I was ringing up. Stop calling me. >> At one point you're actually doing it right. You taking the stuff out, scanning it and putting it in the bag. So this was the first the suit and then I guess these are the next two. So she gave her a toy, some toys and some Christmas stuff. So none of the clothes >> and he's going to go there clothes. >> So I didn't ring up none of the outfits. >> Oh my god. >> No, I don't. I've been sitting here was rung up separately. These three are all rung up separately and paid for separately. Is that what you're telling me? >> Yes. >> Okay. So there's there's not much of a reason to do that either. >> As short as usual, see you can see you can see there's no clothes and no clothes. No clothes. >> And I'm literally sitting here watching the bags. >> I went through the bag, forgot to ring up some stuff. That's why it's more than one. >> That's every bit of the clothes. Oh my god. >> Can they add the stuff up? Because I thought I run that stuff up. I was >> everything. >> So, with with all this, we've already seen the footage and everything. Go ahead and just turn that way. >> So, I'm being arrested. >> You are being arrested. Yes, ma'am. >> I can't pay for the rest of the stuff. >> You You could have paid for it before we got called. Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> So, just turn that way. Don't Don't touch the purse. That's all going to Just sit down and turn away from me. >> Wow. >> What you got on you? >> Thank you. I can't believe this. I really thought I was ready. Close up. I can't believe this [ __ ] >> I asked him, "Could I pay for it?" I didn't mean to. >> He said at the door, he explained to me. That's how you do it. >> Absolutely. >> Come on, man. >> I understand that, sir. But I just had so much in there and I was just scanning. >> So $260 $68.99. Come on, man. This is >> I can't pay for that. >> No anymore cuz I could have sworn I was ringing it up. But it's okay. >> That's a lot of stuff to forget. >> I wasn't the only one ringing up and I wasn't the only one buying stuff. Well, they have the checkout counters where you can go to a person to >> to avoid that. >> When asked about the missing scans, she gave a TED talk on confusion. Claimed she had money, just not memory. Said her phone helped ring stuff up. Classic ghost checkout strategy. The best part, she offered to pay after getting caught, like paying for stolen roses after the wedding. There was desperation, denial, and a sprinkle of I shop a lot, as if that cleared the record. The woman was charged with theft and permanently banned from Target. On April 6th, 2024, another trio tried to roll their way through Target with overflowing carts, underpaid receipts, and overconfident excuses. From fake confusion to I won't survive jail monologues. The drama was thicker than the clearance aisle in December. Watch the video to see how Target security turned a shopping spree into a police escort. >> Hello, ladies. >> Hi, ladies. We're going to need you guys to step with us, okay? Can we see your receipt? >> You too, ma'am. Do you have a receipt for anything you've paid for? >> Yes, I do. >> All right. You guys want to check your stuff? >> Yeah. >> Ladies, do you have your IDs and everything on you? >> Come here, ma'am. Right here. >> You want to give give them the receipt and have them verify it? >> Hey, Chris, you want to verify everything? >> Yeah. You got your ID? You guys from Wisconsin? >> Yes, we are. >> Where are y'all staying currently? >> We're just visiting now. >> What brings you to Oakan Target? >> Working with a friend. >> Are you Are you >> Illinois? >> Yeah. >> I'm sorry. >> Yeah, I'm from Chicago. >> Do you have your ID? >> You going to see problem is we got to pay for everything that's in our car today, ladies? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, we have a number of items that are currently not accounted for. In Illinois, when you pass the last point of sale without purchasing them, it's called retail theft. So, what they're going to do, those are the items paid for. >> Not for all those clothing items were not paid for. >> Okay. We still have to check all this over here. >> What's that? >> Oh, no. Yeah. >> You pay back for the pops. >> H >> you pay for the pops. >> Yeah, they know that >> everything you paid for they put in a separate card. >> All right. So, what we're going to do, ladies, we're going to go back upstairs to their loss prevention office. We're going to get a receipt for everything that was taken. We're going to issue you well, we're going to see how much it is first, and then we're going to base uh your citation off of that. Okay. >> All right. We're going to go up this way to the right, ladies. Follow the guy in the green this way. Hello, Nikki. Bring it. Are you okay? >> I can't see that good. >> Mhm. >> All right. Have a seat. >> I got heart fail. >> I got heart. >> You had what? >> I got heart fail. >> I got heart fail. >> All right. So, like I said, one of two things is going to happen here. You're either going to go back to our station with us and you're going to have an actual formal complaint filled against you. You're going to get printed and everything else. >> All right. If the dollar amount is low enough, we'll issue you guys a village ordinance citation and you'll have to comply with the instructions that are on that. Okay. >> Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. Today we lost. You guys got caught. >> All right. >> It's my first time. I got robbed. >> I just need a be posted on like social media or anything. This is going to go in some >> So you're saying Nikki didn't have anything in her cart? I mean, she had the cart, but the thing is that she passed it on to her. And for our policy, whoever walks out with the merchandise is who we take in. >> Well, that's who had it. Her she had it. I just had my stuff and she put my stuff in her car. She had it. >> Come on now. And you know, you saw >> it going by. I had it. >> So, >> what he's saying is >> this tourist crew walked out like they'd paid for every thread until Target's loss prevention played the reverse UNO. When stopped, they switched from carefree to confused, faster than a toddler holding a broken vase. Their carts were full, their story empty, and Target target stayed undefeated. Crime doesn't pay, but it does overcharge. >> Hi, D. >> Hi. >> So, basically what LP was telling me >> was Nikki selected, placed, placed it in their carts, they walked past the last point of sale. >> You got a receipt for the dog? >> Yes, the receipt is in the bay. There's a lot of like stuff in there. I mean, it might be still in the cart downstairs cuz I didn't like grab any receipts for anything else. >> No, there's a receipt in the bag. >> In the bag? >> In the bag? >> I mean, it's still it's still down there cuz I mean if it's not ours is, y'all, but I paid for it. >> Oh, it's >> Well, when they I was going to return them. >> Yeah. I mean, when they come when they come back with the receipt, you just let us know. >> Exactly. They got my um I applied for my car. >> Gotcha. >> So, it's all in the bag. >> I mean, like I said, like when they come back, you could bring the receipt and we'll see if >> the seat is in the bag. >> No, your bag's like downstairs. >> The seat is in the bag with the >> We got it. >> We're just We're mixing words, right? What he's saying is >> they'll see the items and they'll see the receipt for it and they'll know that that belongs to you. were 600. >> Is that total or is that >> This is one cart and then this one was 568 subtotal. >> Okay for the >> unfortunately ladies, we're north of 500 pre-tax. So you guys have to go in with us. Do you have anything on your person that's going to hurt or harm ours? You don't have any knives, needles, nothing. >> Yes, sir. >> Go ahead and stand up now. >> Place your hands behind your back. You put your first >> your legs around. >> I can't >> help. >> I can't. >> You can't. >> I have a disease. Okay. All right. Just get your legs in there. >> I can't bend them like that. It hurts me. >> Turn your legs around. There you go. >> You're good. There you go. All right. Now, try to turn around. >> I can't. >> Yes, you can. >> I have a dis. >> There you go. You're doing it. >> I can't. You hurt. Okay. I have disease. >> You can sit like that. All right. It's >> a short ride. All right. I can't sit like that. It hurts. That's okay. I ain't going to make it in jail anyway. I be dead by night. Can you raise the window? I got out the riders. >> Hold on. >> I ain't going to make it. I ain't going to make it. I ain't going to make it in jail. Ain't no way. They They not going to let me out anyway. I I ain't going to make it in that window, man. I got heart fail. I got out the ride. It's got the nerve disease. >> Oh [ __ ] >> [ __ ] >> The minute cuffs came out, so did the sudden health reports. I got heart failure. My knees don't bend. I won't survive the ride. Every excuse except I didn't steal made an appearance. Even the cops looked like they needed a break in a drink, but the total was over $500. And in Illinois, that's felony territory. All three women were charged with felony theft and banned from Target. In the end, if you enjoyed the video, hit that like button and drop your thoughts in the comments.
