Where did you guys originally get? disappointing. >> This suspect was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer. He is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. >> Do you know what the most dangerous moments in policing are? Well, it's not always when you're being shot at because it could be when kids are coming out of a schoolyard because you never know what an unstable person who's nearby might do. And parents might assume that sidewalks near a school are safe. But for cops, every alarm goes off the second someone aggressive shows up in that space because all it takes is one sudden move for an ordinary dismissal to transform into a nightmare when someone like these two men shows up. This brings back a lot of memories because I truly never knew if the person that I was approaching was going to talk, fight, run, or all three in rapid succession. Because trust me, someone who looks too impaired to stand can suddenly summon the strength to charge you. And that switch between calm and aggressive is where we get injured quick and where situations go bad before anyone can react. And bystanders often stand by thinking they're safe until everything goes left. Because think about it, you could be waiting for a ride or shopping, then all of a sudden you're caught in the confrontation. But for cops, these calls are two sides of the same coin because we got one suspect who's on with tools, the other with liquid courage. But it's a reminder that danger rarely looks like the movies we watch. It looks very ordinary until the ordinary explodes without warning.
