on December 28th 20123 at approximately 11:00 p.m. New Mexico state police officers were out conducting a DWI checkpoint on Highway 62 near mile poost 92 when they observed a gray in color Nissan pickup approaching at a high rate of speed that appeared to be unreasonable for vehicles approaching the stop sign at the checkpoint as the pickup P officers stated they observed the driver appeared to smile and wave while blowing through the checkpoint 3 two so it's going to be a uh it's like a tanon color Nissan um another unreadable 208 is going to be completed for occupants in the vehicle [Music] [Music] we're currently eastbound towards Hobs we're coming up on mile post 95 [Music] 382 so is going to have New Mexico play Adam Roberts 3579 speeds are going to be approximately 102 miles an hour um vehicle's still showing no 382 silcom speeds are going to be about 103 mph vehicle's going to have New Mexico plate Adam Rober 3579 is going to come back to a gr color Nissan pickup [Music] 382 so we're going to be heading eastbound on 6280 towards hws currently passing M Post 98 [Music] theic before gets into the City and put everybody in danger that's direct you go ahead and put down theic it head 104 man I'm backing up [Music] another officer was able to successfully Spike the driver's side tires 3 two so on vehicle hit the spikes it doesn't appear that the tires are deflating just yet [Music] if he's going to be that close he's going to have to take that hit or he's going to make some sa traffic approaching as the driver continued fleeing without any sign of stopping the primary officer conducted a pit maneuver to end the chase before it entered the city of Hobbs pit pit pit pit it's going to be continu hey get on the ground let me see your hands don't reach don't distraught angry and tired officers later searched the pickup and located alcoholic beverage containers inside you may stop answering questions at any time to consult with an attorney you understand that I maell it he said he doesn't we'll get to that out out of here what's that contractors they got a gap big cuz uh he chased them and then I remember there was another so I kind of stopped cleared it and then I heard what is like let me your hand so I to avoid Crossfire holster and Michael was transported to the state police office where field sobriety tests were performed during the tests Michael allegedly exhibited signs of impairment Michael was later booked into the Lee County Detention Center and charged with failure to obey traffic control devices aggravated fleeing operation of a vehicle on approach of emergency vehicles driving while license suspended speeding battery on a peace officer aggravated assault on a peace officer aggravated DWI and resisting evading or obstructing an officer times two
