Title
When an Officer Thinks He's Seen Everything, Along Comes "Zeus"
Description
Officers were dispatched to a motel to remove a guest on January 1, 2025. Management advised that the man had been bothering people and behaving erratically. Upon arrival, officers found the man near the motel lobby in an agitated state. They told him that he was being trespassed from the property and needed to pack his belongings. After some initial resistance, the man allowed the officers to escort him to his room where he continued to complain and make nonsensical comments. During their interactions with the man, the officers learned that the man had no valid driver's license (it had been permanently revoked for nearly 30 years) and there was no license plate on his car. Despite this, the man attempted to leave the motel property in his vehicle. When the officers stopped him, the man began to use sovereign citizen rhetoric to claim he didn't need a license or plate. Eventually, he was arrested after refusing to obey their commands.
He was charged with Resisting without Violence and Driving on a Permanently Revoked License, which is a felony. Several months later, he'd plead no contest to both charges and be sentenced to 60 days in the county jail. He'd receive 60-days credit for time already served, so he would be released that day.
