Pursuit of Ford Ecosport - Arkansas State Police find Marijuana in center console #police #pursuit

On 3/24/2023, I observed a Ford Ecosport with expired paper tags from October 2022. I activated my emergency lights on the exit ramp from Interstate 30 East to Broadway. The driver, James Shelby, stopped at the traffic light and then continued west on Broadway. I activated my emergency siren and the vehicle increased speed and passed several parking lots before turning north on a side street. Shelby then turned west onto East 4th Street, accelerating to 40MPH. The vehicle failed to stop at a red stop light and continued to flee north on Main Street before turning west onto West 5th Street. The Ecosport jumped a curb and almost struck a pedestrian next to a parked car on West 5th Street. Shelby then turned left into a parking lot. I placed Shelby under arrest without incident. I located approximately 114 grams of marijuana in two baggies in the center console of the Ecosport. Shelby later stated that he had just purchased the marijuana to sell. The Ecosport was towed by 365 Towing.
