DODGE CHARGER VS ARKANSAS STATE POLICE - 130+ MPH high speed pursuit / WHO WINS? #chase #pit #police
Description
Report: On 5/4/26 at approximately 10:50 p.m. I was sitting stationary on I-430 southbound at the 5 MM. While stationary I observed a gray Dodge Charger pass my location, southbound in the middle lane, no lights on, and traveling in excess of 110 mph. I immediately pulled out, asked for other units in the area, and attempted to catch up to the reckless vehicle. I could only keep visual on the vehicle when its brake lights came on. Due to my speed I activated my emergency lights and sirens and continued to try and catch up to the vehicle. I noticed the vehicle turn its lights on and take the Stagecoach Rd. exit. As I was taking the exit I observed the vehicle turn its lights off again and travel westbound on Stagecoach Rd. at a high rate of speed. Speeds on Stagecoach reached approximately 100 mph. I was able to close the distance and catch up to the vehicle as it turned west onto W. Baseline Rd.. I advised dispatch of my location and was able to read off the Texas license plate (VGK9640) that was on the vehicle. As I was closing the distance to perform a TVI, I had to back off because of another vehicle traveling west in front of us. The Charger then swerves towards the vehicle as to act like it was going to strike the vehicle passing within a foot of it. We continued west at speeds in excess of 100 mph. I again tried to move in for a TVI and the vehicle swerved over in front of me to block my attempt. The vehicle continued west at over 100 mph and was driving in both lanes of traffic. As we approached the end of W. Baseline the vehicle was able to slow before wrecking out at the dead end. The vehicle turned around to go back east on Baseline. I attempted to immobilize the vehicle by striking the rear passenger side in attempts to spin it around. The driver was able to regain control and travel back east. I again advised dispatch that we were now back east on W. Baseline headed towards Stagecoach Rd.. The vehicle blacked out again and was traveling approximately 130 mph. As we topped a hill another unknown police agency was sitting on the side of the road with its emergency lights activated and made a u-turn in front of the fleeing vehicle. This caused the driver to slam on his brakes narrowly missing the patrol car. The vehicle slowed enough that I could get close for another TVI attempt. The driver slammed on his brakes and I passed the fleeing vehicle up. The vehicle then sped back up and headed into oncoming traffic on W. Baseline. As we approached Stagecoach Rd., Trooper Loftis and Trooper Roark were sitting at the intersection with their emergency lights and sirens activated. The driver then fled west on Stagecoach Rd. into oncoming traffic. The driver drove head on towards a vehicle and then went around it. The driver then attempted to drive head on towards another vehicle that had pulled to the shoulder to yield to us. I then performed a TVI in order to spin the vehicle before it struck the oncoming traffic. The vehicle rotated clockwise causing it to face back east. Trooper Loftis then pinned the vehicle from the front where it became immobilized. A felony stop was then performed where the driver (Flores) was called out first. He complied and was taken into custody with out any physical force. The passenger (Cassio) was then called out. He also complied and was taken into custody without any physical force. Both subjects were placed in separate vehicles. An inventory of the vehicle was performed. There were 2 cold open "Modelo" beers in the center cup console. There were no other items of criminal element located in the vehicle. Trooper Loftis had Mr. Flores take a PBT which showed a result of (.02). Both Flores and Cassio were transported to UAMS to be medically cleared before being transported to Pulaski County Jail. At the hospital Mr. Flores was read his Arkansas Implied Consent rights. I requested that he take a urine test to be sent off to determine his blood alcohol content. Mr. Flores stated he understood his rights and that he was refusing to take a chemical test. After being cleared by a doctor, both subjects were transported to Pulaski County Jail. Flores was charged with Aggravated Assault Felony for driving head on towards vehicle's, Felony Fleeing, and Felony Criminal Mischief due to the damage to the Arkansas State Police patrol vehicle. Mr. Flores was also charged with DUI and numerous other misdemeanor charges. Cassio was charged with misdemeanor charges to include Public Intoxication, Contributing to a Minor, Open Container, and Drinking in Public.
