PURSUIT! Arkansas State Police vs. Chevrolet Impala - Chase through cornfields (Palmetto-15 rifle)
Description
Trooper's Report:
On 6/16/2026, I Trp. Reagan Eades, attempted to stop a grey Chevrolet Impala (LPN: AXZ95J) for a cracked windshield. I
activated my 360-degree lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Nickolas Rubin, moved to the west
shoulder of US Highway 65 S just south of Dumas city limits.
The operator of the vehicle acted like he was going to come to a complete stop, but proceeded to flee my traffic stop and
continued south on US Highway 65 S. The operator travelled to the next available turnaround on the highway to continue to flee
northbound. While attempting to turn around, the tires of the Impala spun out, leaving skid marks on the roadway and crossing
the fog line on the east side shoulder. The operator continued north back towards the city limits of Dumas, accelerating to
speeds of 65 miles per hour. After entering the city limits, the operator turned to travel east onto a dirt road that went through a
cornfield. The operator travelled east on the dirt road before turning north to continue traveling on the same road. While
traveling north, I observed the operator having his left arm out the window, holding a clear bag, dumping what was later
discovered to be marijuana out the window. The operator turned west into civilians’ backyards before coming to a stop behind
the residence at 10 Robinwood Road. The operator was quickly apprehended after surrendering to law enforcement.
After placing Rubin in the back of my patrol unit, I mirandized him and asked why he ran; he responded with “I was in fear for
my life.” An administrative inventory was conducted on the vehicle. During the inventory, I located a clear baggie of marijuana
in the driver’s seat next to the center console and a Palmetto-15 rifle (SN: LW455755) in the driver’s floorboard next to the
center console. Archie’s Towing Service was contacted to take possession of the vehicle. After leaving Rubin in the custody of
the Jail Staff, I returned to the area where he was dumping marijuana out of the vehicle. Multiple pieces of marijuana were
located on the roadway and added to the already seized marijuana from the vehicle.
Rubin is charged with the following:
5-54-125(d)(2) Fleeing-Felony-Vehicle or Conveyance
5-74-106 Simultaneous Possession of Drugs & Firearms
5-53-111 Tampering with Physical Evidence
