Title
US 19 Lucky Duck...lings
Description
When a call came in about a citizen walking along US 19, deputies weren't quite sure what they were headed to, and they definitely didn't think it would involve a couple of adorable ducklings. The citizen was attempting to rescue two ducklings that were crossing the highway when they fell down a storm drain. Mom was nowhere in sight and as busy as US 19 is, who knows what happened.
Thanks to this caring citizen and Deputies Urf and Norton, the ducklings (who amazingly appeared uninjured) were safely retrieved and taken to Owl's Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife to get checked out.
When you find injured or orphaned wildlife:
CALL FIRST. Experts will guide you on whether and how to help before they arrive
Help only if it is safe for you to do so
Don't offer food or water to injured wildlife
Keep your distance and monitor the animal (mom could be nearby)
Try to keep other people and pets away from the area
