Title
131 MPH HIGH SPEED PURSUIT w/ KAWASAKI NINJA ZX-6R and Arkansas State Police
Description
Report: On September 21, 2025, at approximately 14:32:52, while observing northbound traffic on Interstate 540 near the 3-mile marker at the base of the Arkansas River Bridge, I observed a black and white sport motorcycle traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. I estimated the speed to be well over the posted 65 MPH speed limit. Using front stationary radar, the motorcycle’s speed was confirmed at 92 MPH. It should be noted that there was a clear line of sight between the suspect and where I was parked. At 14:33:05, I activated my emergency lights and entered the interstate while maintaining visual contact with the motorcycle. At 14:33:12, I also activated my emergency siren and noticed that the suspect began to accelerate, coming really close to surrounding motorists. The motorcycle then began splitting lanes, making abrupt lane changes without signaling, and operated in a manner that created danger to surrounding motorists. Based on all these observations, I believed the suspect was aware I was attempting to stop them and was attempting to flee. I went ahead and advised Arkansas State Police Troop H Communications that I was going to be in pursuit of a fleeing motorcycle. At 14:33:40, I reached a speed of 131 MPH to maintain visual contact with the motorcycle as it was going well over 110mph. I briefly lost sight of it around the 2-mile marker curve. At 14:34:03, I regained visual as the motorcycle exited towards Highway 64. I updated Troop H that the pursuit was heading eastbound on Hwy 64. At approximately 14:34:26, in a posted 45 MPH zone, I observed the motorcycle again accelerating rapidly in the outside lane while I was about 150 feet behind it. The motorcycle then made an abrupt lane change into the inside lane as it continued eastbound. At 14:34:45, the motorcycle came to a complete stop facing eastbound at the intersection of Highway 64 and Highway 282. The suspect immediately raised their hands, indicating they were surrendering. I issued verbal commands for the suspect to dismount the motorcycle, which they complied with. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as a Case Marshall. He was read his Miranda rights and asked if he understood them, to which he stated he did. When asked, Mr. Marshall stated that he did see me and was hoping that I would pull someone else over. Mr. Marshall acknowledged that it was too late to change what transpired and should have pulled over where I had originally observed him speeding. The motorcycle was then identified as a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R with no license plate attached to it. Additionally, no proof of insurance was located for the bike. Upon searching Mr. Marshall’s backpack, I located a small, clear plastic bag with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Next to it was a glass pipe believed to be used for smoking the suspected marijuana. Mr. Marshall was then transported to the Crawford County Adult Detention Center and released to booking. The sports bike was released and towed by Wilson’s Towing. Mr. Marshall was charged with the following: 5-54-125(d)(3) 2023 FLEEING – FELONY- VEHICLE OR CONVEYANCE- SUBSTANTIAL DANGER OF DEATH, 27-51-201, 27-50-302(7) SPEEDING- MORE THAN 15MPH OVER LIMIT 27-50-308(b)(1)(B)1st RECKLESS DRIVING- 1ST 27-14-304 DRIVING VEHICLE WITHOUT TAGS 27-51-403 SIGNALS FOR TURNING, STOPPING, OR DECREASING SPEED REQUIRED 27-51-305 FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY 27-51-302 IMPROPER LANE CHANGE/USAGE 27-22-104(a)(2) FAIL TO PRESENT PROOF OF INSURANCE (NO PROOF) 5-64-419(b)(5)(A) POSSESS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE SCHED VI 4 OZ 5-64-443(a)(1) POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
