I ran the license plate through ACIC, which showed the vehicle had an unconfirmed insurance status and was registered to Melvin Ware. The ACIC check also displayed eCite history linking Melvin Ware to the vehicle. Upon further investigation through ACIC, I determined that the registered owner, Melvin D. Ware , had a suspended driver’s license and two active warrants originating from the Caddo Valley and Arkadelphia Police Departments. I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle while on Caddo Street. The vehicle then turned onto S. Third Street, continuing south. I activated my emergency siren in conjunction with my emergency lights, which were already on. The vehicle failed to yield and continued southbound on S. Third Street. I positioned my vehicle beside the violator's vehicle in an attempt to get it to stop, but the vehicle accelerated to approximately 39 mph in a 25 mph zone. The violator then turned onto Clay Street. At this point, I executed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI), causing the vehicle to come to a stop in a private driveway at 220 Clay Street. The driver, identified as Melvin D. Ware, exited the vehicle and was subsequently placed in handcuffs. During the handcuffing process and a pat-down search, I detected the odor of intoxicants coming from Ware. He was placed in the back of my patrol unit, where I administered a portable breath test (PBT) that yielded a result of 0.04. The passenger, identified as Mary A. Harrison was released from the scene shortly after. Golden's Wrecker Service, the next on-rotation wrecker service, was notified to recover Ware's vehicle. I then transported Ware to the Clark County Jail. Upon arrival, I read him his Miranda Rights. When I asked Ware why he failed to stop, he stated that he did not want his vehicle to be towed. Ware was subsequently booked on the following charges: 5-54-125(d)(3): Fleeing – Felony – Vehicle or Conveyance 27-16-303: Driving on Suspended License Join This Channel Section "Love thrilling police chases?
