Title
Grappler fails, but the Arkansas State Police PIT MANEUVER ends pursuit #chase #pit
Description
According to NLRPD, the suspect fled from officers earlier in the day. The pursuit was terminated after the suspect conducted a U-turn in traffic and drove at high speeds. Later, the vehicle's license plate hit on a local LPR (license plate reader) and officers again attempted a traffic stop. The suspect fled. Interestingly, NLRPD attempted to deploy their new grappler on a couple of occasions but with negative results. Trooper's Report: On September 9, 2026, the North Little Rock Police Department (NLRPD) contacted Troop A Communications advising they were actively pursuing, a dark blue Volvo, for various traffic violations. Communications advised NLRPD was requesting State Police assistance in the area of W Roosevelt Street and Broadway Street in the city of Little Rock. Communications then advised the pursuit continued southbound on Highway 367 (Arch Street) towards Baseline Road. I, Trooper Noel Lyons, responded to the area of Arch Street and W 65th Street with my emergency lights and siren activated. On Arch Street, I observed multiple NLRPD and Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) units traveling southbound engaged in the pursuit of V1. V1 then traveled westbound on Baseline Road from Arch Street. As V1 traveled westbound, I was able to become the primary unit in the pursuit. Once primary, I performed a successful TVI on the rear passenger side of V1 near 3410 Baseline Road. This caused V1 to leave the roadway to the right shoulder. As V1 left the roadway and entered the parking lot of 3410 Baseline Road, it struck an unoccupied van. This impact pushed into the rear of an occupied food truck on the lot. After V1 came to a final rest, verbal commands were given to (Suspect 1- Hunter Moffett), the operator of V1. Mr. Moffett ignored the commands and exited V1 from the driver’s door. Mr. Moffett then proceeded to flee on foot westbound in the parking lot. I chased Mr. Moffett and pushed him to the ground in an effort to stop him from fleeing. Immediately after this, NLRPD and LRPD units forcibly gained control of Mr. Moffett while he was on the ground and were able to place him into custody. After the pursuit ended NLRPD personnel advised me that Mr. Moffett had previously fled from their officers on September 8, 2026. NLRPD personnel also advised that when the pursuit was initiated today, Mr. Moffett nearly struck a patrol officer with V1. NLRPD took custody of Mr. Moffett and towed V1. LRPD investigated the crash that occurred in the parking lot (see LRPD Accident). There was no damage to my patrol unit as a result of the TVI, and minor injuries were reported by third parties involved. Mr. Moffett was charged with the following: Fleeing- Felony D Aggravated Assault-Felony D Resisting Arrest- Misdemeanor A Fleeing on Foot- Misdemeanor C Improper Lane Change-Traffic Signal Required-Traffic
