Driver (w/ no insurance) flees Arkansas State Police - Ticket becomes FELONY FLEEING #pursuit #chase
Description
Trooper's Report:
On September 18 2026, at 4:59 p.m., I was patrolling northbound on Interstate 57 when I observed a brown pickup truck
traveling southbound appeared to be high rate of speed. I checked my radar and determined the vehicle was traveling 90 MPH
in a posted 75-MPH zone. The vehicle began to slow down; however, after it passed my location, I activated my rear radar and
observed the vehicle traveling 88 MPH.
I turned around at the Mile Marker 92 turnaround and caught up to the vehicle just north of the Mile Marker 87 exit. The vehicle
was still traveling 88 MPH. The driver, later identified as Malachi Beason, abruptly took the exit ramp and began to stop but
then continued southbound on the ramp. Beason failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Jackson County Road
43. Beason turned left and then made an additional left turn onto the northbound entrance ramp. Beason then made a
complete circle around the gore area before proceeding northbound on the entrance ramp.
As I attempted to catch up to the fleeing vehicle, Beason abruptly applied his brakes and pulled onto the right shoulder, coming
to a stop. I instructed Beason over my PA system to “put it in park and shut it off.” As I opened my driver-side door to exit my
patrol vehicle, Beason spun his tires and fled. Beason reentered the interstate traveling northbound in the inside, left lane.
As Beason traveled in the left lane, I positioned my vehicle to conduct a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI). Beason applied his
brakes in an apparent attempt to disrupt my maneuver, causing me to brake. Beason then continued traveling northbound, at
which time I conducted a TVI. Beason’s vehicle rotated clockwise; however, he regained control of the vehicle before coming to
a stop on the right shoulder.
I conducted a felony takedown and took Beason into custody without further incident.
Beason will be charged with the following offenses:
27-16-303 — Driving on Suspended License
27-22-104 — No Liability Insurance
27-51-201 — Speeding, 1–15 MPH Over the Limit (90/75)
5-54-125 — Fleeing by Vehicle or Conveyance (Misdemeanor)
27-14-701 — Owner Failure to Register Vehicle
27-51-601 — Failure to Obey a Stop Sign
27-51-104 — Careless and Prohibited Driving
