Title
Man Kills Pregnant Girlfriend and Her Toddler | Minnesota Murder Case
Description
Watch this police interrogation with intense raw interrogation from the interrogation room as police conduct a full interrogation of a suspect. This raw interrogation footage captures every moment of the suspect interview, complete with deception detection techniques, and criminal psychology in true JCS style interrogation.
The Background
Renard Lydell Carter and Keona Sade Foote were in a relationship. Carter had been living with Foote for about a month at her apartment in Rochester, Minnesota.
Foote was pregnant in the first trimester. Her 2-year-old daughter, Miyona Zayla Lee-Miller, also lived in the home.
During his plea, Carter stated the motive involved an argument over the pregnancy and relationship issues. He had a prior criminal history that included domestic-related offenses and had been released from prison several months earlier.
The Crime
The incident occurred on or about September 10, 2020, at Foote’s apartment in the Olympik Village complex in Rochester, Minnesota.
The victims were discovered deceased on September 13, 2020.
Carter later admitted responsibility for the deaths of Foote, her unborn child, and the toddler. Portions of the events were recorded and shared on social media.
The Investigation
Rochester police responded to the apartment on September 13, 2020, and located the victims.
Carter had left the state. He was located the following day in South Carolina after authorities received information about his location and possible further plans.
During the arrest, he was shot and wounded by officers after emerging with what was later identified as a BB gun.
Evidence included the crime scene findings, digital material shared online, and Carter’s own admissions. He was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder of an unborn child. Bail was set at $5 million.
Conviction and Sentencing
Carter pleaded guilty on July 15, 2021, in Olmsted County District Court to the three second-degree murder charges.
He later sought to withdraw the plea; a competency evaluation was completed, and the request was denied.
On December 9, 2021, he received consecutive sentences totaling nearly 90 years (with credit for time already served).
The Minnesota Court of Appeals later upheld the denial of his plea-withdrawal request.
As of the most recent Minnesota Department of Corrections records, Carter remains incarcerated at MCF Rush City, with an anticipated release date in 2080.
