What began with an Arkansas State Trooper observing a red Kawasaki motorcycle slightly exceeding the speed limit quickly developed into a high-speed nighttime pursuit through residential streets in Fort Smith.
According to the official Arkansas State Police report, Trooper Tucker Phelps was near South Greenwood Avenue and South O Street when he observed a red 2016 Kawasaki EX300 traveling ahead of him.
The motorcycle continued onto South 23rd Street and began gaining speed. Trooper Phelps' radar initially showed approximately 35 MPH in a posted 30 MPH zone, but the motorcycle continued accelerating. Phelps reported having to reach approximately 55 MPH just to catch up.
After the motorcycle passed South R Street, Phelps activated his emergency lights and siren and attempted a traffic stop.
The rider allegedly continued accelerating instead of stopping, beginning a pursuit that reached approximately 80 MPH through a residential area.
The chase soon took an unusual turn when the motorcycle allegedly ran a stop sign and left the pavement, traveling off-road toward Jenny Lind Road.
The rider continued behind a local business before returning to Boston Street, but the motorcycle soon went off-road again.
Watch the full dashcam footage to see how the pursuit unfolds.
