Title
Sovereign Citizen Learns a Swift Lesson from No-Nonsense Cops
Description
An officer was on patrol on July 17, 2025 when she observed a white Cadillac SUV that didn't have a license plate. The officer activated her lights and siren and initiated a traffic stop. The Cadillac pulled into a nearby Publix parking lot. When the driver was asked about her missing tag, she said she didn't need to have one since she was traveling, not operating in commerce. The officer requested her driver's license, but the woman handed her a picture card that had her name and date of birth along with the title "American State Citizen The United States of America Unincorporated." The officer then waited for additional units to arrive on scene. Upon their arrival, the officers asked the woman to exit her vehicle, but she refused, so they used a handheld tool with a tungsten carbide tip to break the driver's side window. The woman was removed from her vehicle with physical force only and arrested.
She was charged with Resisting without Violence (Florida Statute § 843.02). She also received a citation for no motor vehicle registration. The next week, she'd get arrested for driving without a tag once again. After pleading nolo contendere to that charge and being ordered to serve 7 days in jail, the Assistant State Attorney determined that the charge for Resisting without Violence during her first arrest was not suitable for prosecution. Two months later, her vehicle was captured on traffic cameras with a Florida license plate, but the registration was still expired.
