On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Portland Police Bureau released additional information regarding the officer-involved shooting that occurred on September 24, 2026. The suspect killed in a shooting on September 24, 2026, has been identified as Eddie Brandon Todd Campbell, 39, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death. Detectives also released a photo of the suspect's handgun. The investigation also has determined that K9 Kylo was unintentionally injured by police fire during the violent encounter with the homicide suspect. "We continue to honor the heroic efforts of Kylo or the devastating loss his death represents to our Bureau members and our community," Chief Bob Day said. "We appreciate the outpouring of support from throughout the city—and even the country—as we work through this heartbreaking loss. "We understand the community's desire to learn more about what occurred. However, the investigation remains ongoing, and we must allow that process to continue. PPB will release the body camera footage and identify the officers involved within 14 days per our policy."
