Fleeing hit-and-run driver

This afternoon, a car struck a County of Volusia fire truck that was stopped along International Speedway Boulevard while units responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash. The driver fled west on ISB toward DeLand, passing cars in the grass and the shoulder, almost crashing several times. After reaching DeLand, he stopped briefly to let out 2 passengers, then kept fleeing. He tried to pass traffic at Amelia Avenue, hit a culvert, crashed into a pole, bailed out and ran into the Publix plaza. While VSO K-9 Red was eager to track him down, FHP caught up with him first. Jamal Anthony Riascos, 27, DeLand, is charged with fleeing/attempting to elude with property damage, leaving the scene of a crash, reckless driving, resisting, and violation of probation. He was taken to the hospital to get checked out prior to transport to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
