Student's Pronoun Dispute With Police Ends in a Chaotic Arrest

A routine investigation turns into a chaotic UCF arrest after a student confrontation over pronouns escalates with police. In February 2025, a University of Central Florida officer investigating a stolen vehicle encountered 27-year-old Jarrett Vick. As the interaction progressed, the situation shifted from standard questioning to a volatile law enforcement encounter when the subject began challenging officers. This police bodycam footage captures the full escalation, including the use of pepper spray and a taser to secure the subject. While Vick was initially charged with battery on an officer and resisting arrest, subsequent reporting confirms the case was later dropped through a pretrial diversion process.
