Title
See Something, Say Something Leads to Arrest of Drunk Motorcyclist
Description
On Sunday evening, deputies arrested a drunk motorcyclist after he crashed his Harley and left the scene. A vigilant civilian, who saw something and said something, reported to 9-1-1 operators that they had witnessed a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 1. The witness described the man who had crashed his motorcycle as appearing drunk and smelling of alcohol. The witness watched the man upright his motorcycle and leave the crash scene. As deputies neared the crash scene, they located the motorcyclist and conducted a traffic stop. When deputies asked the motorcyclist, identified as Glenn Munger, 66, of Hastings, “What’s going on?” Munger answered, “I got a little buzzed. You know what I’m saying.” Munger smelled strongly of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, and slurred but understandable speech. While Munger did maintain his balance while standing, deputies discontinued field sobriety exercises for safety concerns due to his excessive swaying and him nearly falling on several occasions. Munger has a history of DUI, with three prior convictions in Florida. “This career drunk driver didn’t get just a little buzzed. He crashed his Harley and then fled,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. “He was not only a danger to himself but also to pedestrians and other drivers. I thank the caller who ‘saw something and said something,’ as they likely saved his life or someone else’s.” Deputies arrested Munger for DUI (4th offence) and fleeing/eluding law enforcement. He was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $15,000 bond.
