Title
Lady flees Arkansas State Police traffic stop due to marijuana - Pursuit ends with perfect TVI / PIT
Description
Trooper's Report: On February 18, 2026, at approximately 10:26 A.M., I was patrolling near the 281-mile marker on Interstate 40 going westbound. I observed a gray Hyundai Elantra (AR - LODCAZ) with large cracks in the windshield and a defective driver brake light. I began following the vehicle onto MLK to conduct a traffic stop. I initiated the traffic stop on MLK underneath the I-40 overpass. I made first contact through a passenger side approach, gave my biased free policing statement, and requested the driver’s license and insurance. I immediately detected the odor of marijuana, and I identified the driver as Keairen D. Myrick. Myrick stated that she did not have insurance, and I returned to my vehicle to confirm the information provided. After I confirmed the information provided, I made a second contact using a passenger-side approach to address the odor of marijuana. I ordered Myrick to remove her purse from her person and exit the vehicle to conduct a probable cause search. Myrick slowly removed her purse and began looking around. I took a step back and bladed from the car in case there was a weapon, and Myrick began driving off. I returned to my vehicle, activated my sirens, and called in the pursuit. We reached speeds of approximately 90mph on MLK with a fair amount of traffic. Myrick drove in the turning lane of MLK and then turned onto the I-55 S Entrance Ramp. I conducted a positive TVI on the entrance ramp, exited my vehicle, and arrested Myrick. Myrick was Mirandized and questioned on where the marijuana was located. She stated that it was underneath/outside the car due to her throwing it out the door as I began to TVI her. There was a large plastic bag containing multiple smaller bags of marijuana found underneath the vehicle. The bag of marijuana weighed 242g / 8.5oz altogether. There were also more plastic bags found in the passenger seat of the car. Myrick was transported to Crittenden County Detention Center and was ultimately charged with Felony Fleeing, Possession of Sched VI 4oz - 10lbs, Paraphernalia, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Reckless Driving, Speeding more than 15mph, No Insurance, Defective Signal Lamps, Defective Equipment, and Littering.
