Title
Teamwork helps end HIGH SPEED motorcycle pursuit (Barling PD & Arkansas State Police)
Description
Report:
On 05/06/2026 at approximately 9:46 PM, I was traveling northbound on Towson Avenue approaching South (S) D Street when
I observed a dark-colored Suzuki GS500 bearing Arkansas license plate 274HY traveling in front of me. I checked the license
plate and observed that the vehicle showed an unconfirmed insurance status. I activated my emergency lights and siren to
initiate a traffic stop. The motorcycle continued onto S D Street and began fleeing from my patrol unit. I then initiated a pursuit.
The motorcycle continued eastbound on S D Street, disregarding multiple stop signs and traveling at a high rate of speed. The
motorcycle then traveled onto Rogers Avenue and continued fleeing eastbound through heavy traffic conditions. During the
pursuit, the operator disregarded multiple red traffic signals and entered oncoming traffic lanes several times. Speeds during
the pursuit reached approximately 100 miles per hour.
I continued pursuing the motorcycle eastbound on Rogers Avenue past Massard Road and attempted to slow the vehicle by
positioning my patrol unit alongside it, forcing it toward the shoulder. Barling Police Department Officer J. Cummings joined the
pursuit as the secondary unit. The motorcycle then traveled onto the north shoulder of Rogers Avenue and entered the private
parking lot located at 8387 Rogers Avenue. The motorcycle struck a curb, causing the operator to begin losing control. Officer
Cummings and I attempted to box in the motorcycle before it collided with the driver's side door of Officer Cummings’s patrol
unit. The operator fell from the motorcycle and briefly attempted to flee on foot before surrendering.
When asked to identify himself, the operator responded, “your mama,” and initially refused to provide his name. After further
investigation, the subject was identified as Sean Beagles. Mr. Beagles was found to be driving on a suspended license and
also had an active Fort Smith City warrant for his arrest (warrant number 26-01815). He was taken into custody and secured in
the rear of my patrol unit for transport. While seated in the rear of my patrol unit, Mr. Beagles stated, “After you take these
handcuffs off, I’m gonna knock your bitch ass out.”
Fort Smith Police Department Officer Tabor arrived on scene and advised that Mr. Beagles had fled from him earlier from S T
St and Jenny Lind Road in the same area prior to my attempted traffic stop.
Officer Cummings’s patrol vehicle (VIN 1C4SDJFT9SC522082 2025 Dodge Durango) sustained minor damage to the exterior
driver-side door area as a result of the collision. The Barling Police Department will be seeking restitution for the damages.
Mr. Beagles was transported to Baptist Hospital for medical clearance. After being medically cleared, he was transported to the
Sebastian County Adult Detention Center for booking.
Fort Smith Police Officer Tabor’s felony fleeing charge was added to the intake sheet, and a separate probable cause affidavit
was completed.
Mr. Beagles did not have any visible abrasions or injuries.
Pictures of the damage to Officer Cummings's patrol unit were added to the report. Officer Cummings provided his dash
camera video, as well as his report, for the case file.
