Title
Arkansas State Parks Ranger & Arkansas State Police in pursuit of WANTED drug suspect #pursuit #pit
Description
On Friday, May 1, 2026, at approximately 11:44 P.M, I heard Ranger Weaver with Arkansas State Parks initiate a vehicle
pursuit westbound on AR HWY 74 from Devils Den State Park. From previous radio transmissions, I knew Ranger Weaver had
conducted a traffic stop and the driver, Mark Holt (W/M 55 YOA), had a warrant for his arrest. After a short time on the traffic
stop, Mark began to flee in his vehicle.
I was on I-49 near exit 61. I activated my emergency equipment and responded to the area. While en-route, I confirmed Mark
had a extradition warrant for his arrest . Ranger Weaver advised the pursuit
continued east on AR HWY 74 towards Winslow. I arrived on HWY 74 when the pursuit was approximately 1 mile ahead of me.
I was able to catch up to the pursuit as the vehicle turned onto Bunyard Road. Ranger Weaver allowed me to become the
primary unit in the pursuit. The vehicle passed Van Buren Ave and continued on Bunyard Road. Bunyard Road is a narrow 2
lane county road with multiple sharp curves and a posted speed limit of 25 MPH. The vehicles’ speed varied between
approximately 30-45 MPH. I observed the vehicle drive in the middle of the road, as well as take a curve into the opposing lane.
Based on the length of the pursuit (approximately 13 miles), the vehicle driving into the opposing lane, and the knowledge that
the driver had a warrant for his arrest , I conducted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention
(TVI) near the address of 13440 Bunyard Road. The TVI was successful and the vehicle went into the ditch on the east side of
the roadway. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Ranger Weaver and I both chased the driver for approximately 75
yards before he tripped in the ditch and surrendered. Ranger Weaver secured the driver in handcuffs.
I returned to the vehicle, and found a passenger, Jessica Smith. Jessica denied any injury and said she did not
need to be evaluated by EMS personnel. I asked Jessica about any illegal items in the vehicle, and she told me there was
methamphetamine in a jacket in the backseat that she claimed was hers. Jessica was arrested and secured in my vehicle.
Mark was complaining of shoulder and hip pain and Central EMS responded to evaluate him.
During a probable cause search of the truck, the methamphetamine was located along with a large amount of US currency,
marijuana, a glass pipe consistent with methamphetamine use, as well as multiple scales with reside on them. All evidence was
turned over to Ranger Weaver. J&A Towing responded and took possession of Mark’s vehicle.
Trp Caleb Miller transported Jessica to the Washington County Detention Center on Ranger Weaver’s charges. Mark was
transported by Central EMS to Washington Regional Medical Center at his request. Ranger Weaver went to the hospital and
after Mark was cleared, Ranger Weaver transported Mark to the Washington County Detention Center.
All charges are being pursued by Ranger Weaver (Reference State Parks Report Number . It should be noted,
during the TVI, my vehicle sustained minor damage to the front passenger quarter panel area. Additionally, the Ford Ranger
that Mark was driving sustained damage, including the passenger rear tire and wheel disconnecting from the vehicle.
