Elderly lady in Ford F-150 flees police - Arkansas State Police PIT MANEUVER ends pursuit #pit
Description
Trooper's Report: On 09/05/26, at approximately 0115 hours, I was monitoring my county radio when I heard Cabot PD was in pursuit. Cabot PD advised they were traveling southbound on John Harden Drive from Highway 5 in pursuit of a black Ford F-150 bearing Arkansas license plate BBY 26F. The original reason for the pursuit was an unconfirmed insurance violation. I notified Sgt. N. Williams via radio of the pursuit and advised that Cabot PD was requesting assistance. The pursuit continued onto E. Republican Road from John Harden Drive and then turned northbound onto Peters Road. I was able to intercept the pursuit on Peters Road near Clove Drive, where I assumed the primary position in the pursuit. I notified Troop A Communications that I was primary. I followed the suspect vehicle for a short distance before beginning to check for other motorists and pedestrians. After determining there was no other traffic present, I attempted to position my patrol vehicle for a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). I initially attempted to align my patrol vehicle with the passenger side of the suspect vehicle; however, I observed houses on the right side of the roadway and only trees on the left side. I then repositioned my patrol vehicle to the driver’s side of the suspect vehicle. I used the front passenger-side bumper of my patrol vehicle to make contact with the rear driver-side fender of the suspect vehicle. This caused the suspect vehicle to rotate counterclockwise and veer toward the left shoulder. The suspect vehicle subsequently overturned and came to rest on its roof. Upon approaching the vehicle, Cabot PD broke the passenger-side window. The driver, identified as Karen Foster, was located in the driver’s seat with her seatbelt still attached. After being given multiple commands to exit the vehicle, Foster refused to comply. I approached the driver’s door, but I was only able to open it a small amount. I attempted to remove Foster from the vehicle; however, she resisted by grabbing the steering wheel and locking her legs against the frame of the truck. I was unable to maintain a grasp on her arm for any length of time due to her profuse sweating. Foster eventually exited through the passenger-side area of the vehicle and was apprehended by Cabot PD. Foster was treated by medical personnel. Her vehicle was disabled as a result of the TVI. My patrol vehicle sustained minor damage to the headlight housing and front bumper. Sgt. N. Williams was notified of the conclusion of the pursuit, and the scene was turned over to Cabot PD.
