Manatee rescue: 7/5/23

Yesterday, deputies Oldham and Warner joined Florida Fish and Wildlife, Volusia County Beach Safety and members of the Volusia County Marine Mammal Stranding Team to carry a stranded manatee off the beach in Ponce Inlet. This manatee was successfully transported to the Sea World Rehabilitation Center. Residents and visitors are reminded not to approach or touch a stranded animal. Instead, please report them to the Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) wildlife alert hotline at 888-404-3922 so we can get them the help they need. Thanks all!
