Title
JEEP WRANGLER unable to handle the curve! Crashes into tree after HIGH SPEED POLICE PURSUIT
Description
On 3/23/23 at approximately 9:19 a.m., I attempted to make a traffic stop on a silver Jeep Wrangler for speeding over 100
m.p.h. near the 83 eastbound mile marker. The vehicle continued to travel at a high rate of speed reaching 110 m.p.h. I
caught up to the vehicle near the 87-mile marker eastbound. When I got behind the vehicle, he began swerving from lane to
lane. I noticed he was not making any attempt to stop. The suspect fled, and I pursued him.
Around the 89 eastbound mile marker, the suspect swerved over to the shoulder and passed multiple vehicles while traveling at
speeds in excess of 100 m.p.h. The suspect traveled over a mile mostly on the shoulder, and nearly struck a construction
truck parked on the shoulder with its amber lights on, near the 90 mile marker. We traveled to the 94 eastbound mile marker in
Atkins, AR. The suspect exited the interstate and traveled north on State Highway 105. The suspect continued to drive at
speeds in excess of 90 m.p.h. through Atkins. The suspect continued north on State Highway 105. The suspect’s driving was a
danger to the public, as he nearly struck more than one vehicle and would drive in the opposing lane around blind curves and
blind hills. As we approached a right curve, just north of Ringo Lane, the suspect was unable to keep control of the vehicle. The
suspect drove off the west side of the road and crashed into a several tree. The driver fled on foot; I arrested the passenger,
Micaiah Coleman. The driver, Bryson Coleman, was later located at a convenience store at the intersection of State Highway
124 and State Highway 105.
Bryson Coleman’s shoes matched the prints left in the dirt/mud leaving the scene, and he was also listed as the renter of the
vehicle. There were approximately 40 grams of suspected marijuana, inside a jar; along with multiple baggies and a scale
inside a green cloth sack that was found during the inventory that was taken. Both suspects were taken to the Pope County
Detention Center. The evidence is stored at Arkansas State Police Headquarters.
