Do You Know Florida's Move Over Law? This Deputy's Close Call Shows Why It Matters
Description
Thankfully, Deputy Polak is OK. This is the scary reality for any roadside responder and that's why the Move Over Law exists. If you see a vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road, you MUST move over a lane or if you are unable to move over a lane safely, reduce your speed by 20 MPH below the posted speed limit when the posted speed limit is 25 MPH or greater, or slow down to 5 MPH when the posted speed limit is 20 MPH or less. This law applies to: Law enforcement Emergency Responders Sanitation & Utility Road Rangers & Construction Disabled Vehicles So, yeah, that basically covers any vehicle on the side of the road with their lights on. Help keep people dealing with issues on the side of the road safe and give them space!
