Title
Driver ignores commands after PIT maneuver - Fires her TASER at police! Arkansas State Police
Description
Trooper's Report:
On February 03,2026, at approximately 9:58, I was on patrol when I heard a Bay Police Officer advise that he had a vehicle
failing to yield to his lights and siren on State Highway 463. I was in the area and located the pursuit involving a Bay Police
Officer and three Craighead County Deputies traveling northbound on E Nettleton Ave within the city limits of Jonesboro. I
followed the slow-moving pursuit for approximately one-half mile and observed the Bay Police unit turn off their lights and siren,
then turn around to head back the opposite way. Craighead County Deputies disengaged their lights but continued following the
suspect vehicle.
I observed Craighead County Deputies engage their lights again, and at this point, I moved into the lead and took over the
pursuit. I moved closer to the suspect vehicle and conducted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) on it. After exiting my vehicle,
I gave verbal commands to the driver to show her hands. The driver was visibly talking on the phone with Jonesboro Dispatch.
The driver was not listening to commands and had the vehicle locked. I observed a light blue handheld taser in the suspect’s
hand. The suspect failed to comply with multiple commands to drop the taser, and she failed to do so. I instructed one of the
Craighead County Deputies to break the window so we could gain access to the suspect. The driver’s window was then broken,
and the vehicle was unlocked. Once we had access to the vehicle, a Jonesboro Police officer got into the back seat behind the
suspect, where he and I were able to pin the arm and hand holding the taser in an attempt to get the suspect disarmed. While
doing so, the suspect fired the taser multiple times, attempting to tase officers. The suspect was disarmed and pulled from the
vehicle, where she was arrested without incident.
