Title
Lady w/ FELONY WARRANT flees Arkansas State Police into Missouri - PIT Maneuver flips vehicle #pit
Description
Report:
On May 23, 2026, at approximately 1:03 PM, I, Trooper Carter Lazenby, observed a gray Dodge Journey traveling northbound
on Highway 61 near the Missouri state line at a speed of 63 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.
I pulled onto the roadway and attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the arches on Highway 61 near the Missouri state line.
The vehicle continued traveling northbound before I activated my emergency lights and siren to signal the driver to stop. After
traveling approximately one-eighth of a mile with my emergency lights and siren activated, the vehicle pulled onto the shoulder.
I approached the vehicle and scanned the interior for additional occupants before making contact with the driver. I identified
myself, the agency I worked for, and advised the driver of the reason for the stop. I then asked the driver why she failed to pull
over when she first observed my patrol unit. The driver was instructed to turn off the vehicle and exit with her driver’s license,
proof of insurance, and vehicle registration.
The driver, later identified as Natalie Ward, stated she was unable to locate her license and began searching for her insurance
and registration documents. As Ward began to exit the vehicle without locating her license, I instructed her to retrieve her purse
from the front passenger seat in an attempt to locate it. At that time, Ward reentered the vehicle and began reaching toward the
center console area while repeatedly looking back toward me. Ward then started the vehicle.
I attempted to grab Ward’s arm in an effort to prevent her from placing the vehicle into gear. Ward was able to shift the vehicle
into gear and accelerated away from the scene. I released my grip on Ward’s arm, returned to my patrol vehicle, and initiated a
pursuit.
The suspect vehicle continued northbound on Highway 61 into Missouri at speeds reaching approximately 100 mph in a posted
55 mph zone. Weather conditions were cloudy but dry, and traffic was medium. During the pursuit, Ward drove into oncoming
traffic multiple times by crossing into the southbound lanes before returning to the northbound lanes.
After approximately two miles, a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) was performed at approximately 1:07 PM while the suspect
vehicle was traveling approximately 106 mph. The maneuver caused the vehicle to leave the roadway to the right and overturn
approximately one and one-half times before coming to final rest on the driver’s side.
Ward was instructed to exit the vehicle through the windshield and walk back toward my patrol unit. After complying, Ward was
taken into custody without further incident. Medic One personnel from Missouri responded to the scene, evaluated Ward, and
transported her to Great River Medical Center for treatment. After receiving medical treatment, Ward was released into my
custody and then transported to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office.
It was later determined that Ward had an active felony warrant through the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office at the time of the
incident and that her license was suspended.
