Ford F150 flees from local police - Arkansas State Police catch up and takeover #police #pursuit
Description
Trooper's Narrative: On 04-18-2023 I, Cpl. Bryson Schulz was traveling through the city of Newport. At this time, I was advised via dispatch that the Newport Police Department was in pursuit of a white F150 pickup on State Highway 367 traveling towards Walmart at 90 plus MPH in a 35 MPH zone. Newport Police Department was requesting assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and the Arkansas State Police. At this time, I initiated my emergency equipment (lights and sirens) and began attempting to catch up to the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle continued traveling on State Highway 367 before turning onto State Highway 18 and eventually onto United States Highway 67 Southbound. I caught up to the fleeing vehicle at approximately the 82-mile marker southbound where I took over the pursuit as the primary vehicle from Newport Police Department. TFC. Marcus Simpson was behind me and took over as the secondary unit. I observed the vehicle driving recklessly traveling between both lanes at a high rate of speed. Upon approaching the 80-mile marker southbound, the driver of the vehicle slowed and pulled over onto the shoulder of the road. Myself and the other officers on the scene performed a felony takedown on the driver of the vehicle and placed the driver under arrest without further incident. The driver of the vehicle was searched and mirandized by myself before being placed in the back of my patrol vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently turned over to the owner at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department where I performed standardized field sobriety tests for the DWI investigation. The driver is being held at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department Jail. All charges will be placed on a felony affidavit that the Newport Police Department will prepare.
