Title
Memphis man in Nissan Sentra gives fake name, Arkansas State Police give PIT MANEUVER into guardrail
Description
Trooper's Narrative: On April 26, 2026, at approximately 5:41 PM, I, Trp. Peoples, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 when I observed a blue Nissan Sentra traveling at 94 MPH in a posted 75 MPH zone. The vehicle was detected on my rear radar while traveling in the right lane. As we approached the 247-mile marker, I moved over to allow the vehicle to pass. I then merged behind the vehicle and activated my emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. I made contact with the driver, who stated he did not possess a driver’s license. I requested that he write down his name, which he provided as Antun Hester. I returned to the vehicle and asked the driver to step out. At that time, the driver began looking around nervously and suddenly fled the scene in the vehicle. The driver began passing multiple vehicles on the left shoulder and reached speeds exceeding 100 MPH. After clearing traffic, the driver continued to operate the vehicle recklessly. I executed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) near the 250-mile marker. The suspect vehicle struck the beginning of a guardrail, before leaving the roadway, and entered the south roadside ditch, where it became disabled. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He jumped a barbed-wire fence and ran toward St. Francis County Road 426, continuing into a field. I unsuccessfully deployed my Taser in an attempt to stop the suspect before he crossed a ditch toward the interstate. The suspect crossed the ditch and attempted to conceal himself. Shortly thereafter, I crossed the ditch in pursuit. Upon seeing me, the suspect attempted to return toward the field but was unable to locate an opening in the fence. I issued verbal commands for the suspect to get on the ground. The suspect complied and was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was later positively identified as Brendan Durr. EMS responded to the scene and evaluated Mr. Durr, clearing him with no further medical treatment required. Mr. Durr was transported to the St. Francis County Detention Center. During an inventory search of the vehicle, a bag of ammunition was located in the armrest; however, no firearm was found. The vehicle was released to White Motor Company. Note: I conducted a search of the area for the deployed Taser cartridge but was unable to locate it in the field. Due to the cartridge not being logged, the cartridge number is unknown for reporting. Suspect vehicle approximate damage amount: $10,000.00 Arkansas Department of Transportation approximate damage amount: $10,000.00 (Guardrail)
