Clueless Teen Claims Self Defence, But Cops Have Other Evidence
Description
Watch this police interrogation with intense raw interrogation from the interrogation room as police conduct a full interrogation of a suspect. This raw interrogation footage captures every moment of the suspect interview, complete with deception detection techniques, and criminal psychology in true JCS style interrogation. The Background Sydney Makayla Maughon (then 18) had a relationship with the victim, Jonathan (also spelled Johnathan) Tyler Gilbert (also known as Tyler Lane), age 22. Maughon had been threatening to fight another woman over Instagram. Gilbert was visiting that woman’s home on Dobbins Mill Road in Spalding County, Georgia. On July 3, 2023, Maughon, Jeremy Munson (then 18), and Mackenzie (also spelled McKenzie) Davenport (then 19) went to the home with the stated intention of egging it and fighting the female. Munson was armed with a handgun. The Crime Upon arrival, Maughon became enraged that Gilbert was at the home. She and Davenport threw eggs and rocks at him. Video showed Gilbert running from the front of the home to the rear. In the recording, Maughon is heard urging one of the others in the car to “shoot him, shoot him.” Gilbert approached the vehicle unarmed. Maughon took Munson’s firearm and shot Gilbert two times. Davenport fled the vehicle, sought help, and had someone call 911. Maughon and Munson left the scene, leaving Gilbert in the roadway. They went to Maughon’s parents’ home (where they lived), told her father what happened, and gave him the handgun, which he hid in a closet. The father told them not to call police but to let police find them. They then went to work at Pizza Hut. The Investigation Deputies responded to a call of a man down on Dobbins Mill Road and found Gilbert deceased from gunshot wounds; he was identified by fingerprints. Key evidence included video of the events and the audio of Maughon urging the shooting. Davenport had left shoes and a cell phone in the vehicle when she fled. She allowed deputies to use the phone’s tracking feature, which led to the location and arrest of Maughon and Munson. The vehicle and firearm were recovered (with assistance from Henry County). Early sheriff’s statements described the motive as an “ongoing lovers’ quarrel” and stated Maughon (back-seat passenger) produced a firearm and shot Gilbert multiple times; later DA statements provided the more detailed sequence above (two shots). Conviction and Sentencing On November 20, 2024, Maughon entered a guilty plea to malice murder in Spalding County Superior Court. Superior Court Judge Ben D. Coker sentenced her to life in prison with the possibility of parole. She cannot be considered for parole until she has served every day of at least 30 years. (For context only: Davenport pleaded to two misdemeanor charges related to events before the shooting; Munson later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison plus five years probation on a firearm count. Focus remains on Maughon.) true crime, law and crime network, interrogation, interrogation analysis, red thread interrogations, interrogation jcs inspired, interrogation jcs style, interrogation psychology, interrogation psychology jcs inspired, new interrogations 2026,interrogation breakdown, police interrogation psychology, bodycam, interview, case analysis, bodycam footage, crime investigation, police interrogation, suspect interview, int, interrogations 2026,interrogation videos, jcs true crime
