Title
PIT Maneuver on RAM Truck by Arkansas State Police following HIGH SPEED PURSUIT
Description
Trooper's Narrative: On 4-6-23 at approximately 11:23pm, I assisted the Benton County Sheriff's Office with a traffic stop on I49 south near the 90mm. Benton County initiated a traffic stop on a black Ram 1500. The suspect vehicle failed to yield and continued traveling southbound at approximately 65mph. I activated my lights and siren and followed the lead deputy southbound. Benton County advised they had stop sticks set up at the 88mm. The stop sticks were successfully deployed, and the suspect vehicle continued southbound at approximately 70mph. The suspect vehicle then picked up speed while approaching the 87mm. I advised Benton County via their radio channel that I would take lead in the pursuit. I advised Troop L Dispatch that I was in pursuit. The suspect vehicle then took the 86mm exit ramp. I positioned my vehicle on the rear passenger side of the Ram truck to perform a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). The first attempt was unsuccessful. However, the second attempt was successful and spun the Ram truck into an adjacent guardrail. Following the successful Tactical Vehicle Intervention, the Ram truck was stopped and disabled on the exit ramp. The suspect was held at gunpoint and taken into custody without incident. Benton County located 5 fentanyl pills, and cocaine inside the vehicle. The suspect was identified as Laron Rowe (DOB: 05- 23-1984). Rowe also had an active nationwide extradition warrant for Domestic Battery 1st Degree. The suspect was transported to the Benton County Jail by the Benton County Sheriff’s Department.
