Barricaded subject 1/22/26

Deputies responded to 1300 Hand Avenue, Ormond Beach, yesterday (1/22) for a report of an agitated subject with a firearm walking up and down the street yelling at neighbors. Preston Meier was not receptive to the first deputies on scene, and retreated inside his trailer, refusing to allow his girlfriend to leave. Additional resources (SWAT, drone, hostage negotiations, less-lethal shotgun) responded to help resolve the situation peacefully, which is what finally happened after 2+ hours of negotiations. Meier is charged with false imprisonment and obstructing an officer without violence. He's currently in the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond on the false imprisonment charge.
