Title
Arkansas State Police vs. Chevrolet Camaro -Camaro accelerates to 150mph & disappears into the night
Description
Trooper's Narrative:
On April 18, 2026, at approximately 0242 hours, I, Trooper Loftis, was patrolling the area of East Broadway Street near
Interstate 30 whenever I observed a white Chevrolet Camaro traveling at a high rate of speed in front of me.
I utilized my front moving radar, same direction and confirmed this vehicles speed at 70 miles per hour in a posted 35 miles per
hour zone. I activated my emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop on this vehicle. I observed the vehicle run the red light at
the Intersection of East Broadway and Interstate 30 and make a right hand turn towards the Interstate. I then activated my
emergency siren and observed the suspect accelerate at a high rate of speed Westbound onto Interstate 30. I notified ASP
Dispatch that I was in pursuit of this vehicle at this time. The suspects speed reached over 150 miles per hour. I pursued the
suspect onto Interstate 30 to the South interchange and observed him continue Southbound onto Interstate 530.
Once the suspect reached Interstate 530, he briefly shut off his lights in an attempt to avoid detection but then turned them
back on. I observed the suspect take the Dixon Road exit at Interstate 530 Southbound and run the stop sign at Dixon road
while making a left hand turn. The suspect then traveled the wrong way on the roadway onto the Interstate 530 Northbound on
ramp and continue accelerating at a high rate of speed. I pursued the suspect to the South interchange once again and lost
sight of him. I continued onto Interstate 440 Eastbound and observed the suspect continuing to travel at a high rate of speed in
excess of 150 miles per hour. I continued pursuing the vehicle until I lost sight of it near Interstate 440 Eastbound at Lindsey
Road. Once I confirmed I had lost visual of the suspect, I deactivated all of my emergency equipment and notified ASP
Dispatch that I was terminating the pursuit.
I was unable to obtain a license plate or any other identifying information from this vehicle so I am unable to conduct a follow-up
investigation at this time. Sgt. Nathan Williams was notified of this incident via telephone.
