Mesa Police Department Sentinel Review

Mesa Police Department hosted its sentinel review open house last night. The event offered a unique opportunity to engage with officers and committee members to gain an understanding of what goes into investigating an officer-involved shooting and what measures the department is taking to progress our service and transparency within our community. A sentinel review is a process that examines an undesirable outcome and aims to reduce the occurrence of similar incidents from happening again. Sentinel reviews are a form of “forward-looking” accountability that involves multiple stakeholders and a system-based approach. The goal of a sentinel review is to realize the reduction in these incidents through advances in policy, procedures, and training.
